Posted by Jerry.H | Posted in Storage Shed Plans | Posted on 13-07-2011

Are you eager to start building your own woodworking projects?  As you may already know it, it is not an  easy job to start out with, at least not if you want to become an expert at it.  However, with enough  practice and preparation, it can be fun and it is well worth all the effort for sure.  You will need some woodworking plans for sheds and you can get them on the internet if you want to save the time and effort  looking for it.

The internet is filled with all kinds of resources and information as you probably already know and you  will be able to find many DIY woodworking plans to help building your own storage shed.  It is  important to use easy to follow and accurate woodworking plans in the beginning since they will make it a  lot easier for you to get the job done in the right way and they will also make your woodworking project a  lot more fund without frustration.

Besides finding information on the internet, you can also subscribe or buy some woodworking related  magazine.  The woodworking shed plans found in the magazine are often easy to follow and accurate as well,  and you will most likely get great results by using their woodworking plans.  However, to subscribe or buy a  magazine is pricey, and they don’t always have the storage shed plans you are looking for.

If you are building your first storage shed, you should start out with a simple DIY woodworking plan where  you can just use hand tools to complete the job.  Heavy tools often may cause frustration since you do not  have the experience using them.

So go on to the internet and search for some plans for sheds.  You will probably be able to find some well  written plans that can probably get you start with.  Some websites might also sell some quality tools to  make your woodworking job easier.  You should have at least adequate quality tools, woodworking plans, and  knowledge.  With great determination and practice, you will be able to make your own storage shed.  Once  your experience has been developed, you will be able to make other wood furnitures like coffee table, bench, chair, bird house, and many other woodworking projects.

Are There Any Free Shed Plans

Posted by Jerry.H | Posted in Storage Shed Plans | Posted on 20-12-2010

There is no more space in the garage or the attic. The back porch and spare room are spilling over as well. So your next option is getting a spare storage facility. There are always those you rent off-site somewhere. Then that is a monthly cost you can’t afford right now, as well as being inconvenient too. Purchasing a portable building is definitely out of the question! So you decide you’ll make a family project out of this and build a shed! You have scrap lumber from a neighbor who tore down his shed, so maybe only a little bit of expense in buying nails, maybe a few boards. Now you need plans, blue print of sorts, right? That tight budget though, even buying a book or magazine is out of the question. So search the internet for free shed plans!

That’s right, there are many places you can go and find free shed plans to build your own storage shed. Now probably not from company websites that sell the plans, why would they give away what they sell? However, visit the websites of your local hardware stores! They will have free shed plans because they want you to come buy your wood and hardware from them! Some chain hardware stores have classes for building and creating different things. You may want to check their calendar for shed building and attend the class. You never know what they may be giving away.

If you don’t find one you like with any of those suggestions, try your local public library. There are books and books on carpentry that you could check out. Many libraries offer DVD or VCR tape rentals too. You may even want to check with the local high school for the wood-shop classes and ask that teacher if they have plans they could loan you. You could even volunteer your shed to be a class project if the school authorities permit such an activity.

Yes, you can get free shed plans! You just may need to do some creative thinking to get them. A little creative thinking may get you a better shed than you could have purchased!

Choosing The Right Garden Shed Plans

Posted by Jerry.H | Posted in Storage Shed Plans | Posted on 13-12-2010

You have a new hobby now, gardening. It is relaxing, fun and you are enjoying the planting and then reaping the rewards of what grows. The vegetables are delicious and so much less expensive than buying them from the grocery store. The beauty of the flowers is just the crown to all your hard work. However, you have now realized that you are running out of room in the garage for your gardening equipment. Maybe you should consider looking at garden shed plans and build a place to store all your gardening equipment?

Yes, a garden shed is the solution to your space! Keeping the garage stored stuff separate from your gardening stuff. Where do you start though? First you should determine what all you will need to store in this new garden shed. The tools, equipment and supplies you’ve acquired. The hoe, different sizes of shovels, spades, gloves, buckets and pots are important parts of your hobby. Then there are the variety of fertilizers, mulch and more.

First depending on where you live, you may need to check with local government if a building permit is needed too. Then choose a floor plan that will store all your current equipment and allow some room to grow too. Do some research on-line first. You will find many sites out there that offer different styles and sizes. Inquire at your local nursery or garden center too. They most likely will have books that offer garden shed plans. A book will have not only instructions in building the garden shed, but offer step-by-step pictures too.

Once you have the floor plan selected and the materials purchased, you need to select the place in your yard that you want this built. Keep in mind that once it is built, it may not be ‘permanent’ but it won’t be easily moved either, so make sure you are going to be happy where you put it. Will it be blocking a view from a window in the house? Will it be shading a part of your garden that needs sunlight to survive?

Once you have finished your new garden shed, move all your gardening equipment and supplies from the garage, deck and house. After you’ve worked in your garden each day, you can sit back and enjoy not only the flowers and vegetables you’ve produced, but take pride in the garden shed you’ve built too!

The Purpose of Garden Storage Sheds

Posted by Jerry.H | Posted in Storage Shed Plans | Posted on 08-12-2010

As you browse the books at your local hardware store, you see many books and magazines about building garden storage sheds. What is the purpose of these you are probably wondering? You have a garage, why would you need a separate storage facility to store gardening items?

In your attic you most likely store things that you only use once a year such as holiday decorations. You probably store items there that you just don’t have the heart to throw away like your children’s baby books and art work. Then in the garage, you store things that are automotive related as well as hand tools that are used around your home. This is where a garden storage shed would come in handy.

Garden storage sheds have a sole purpose, storing gardening related materials. You would store garden tools, equipment and supplies there. You would store things such as hoes, shovels, spades, rakes as well as fertilizers and mulch. Perhaps you would even store your lawn mower, edger and leaf blower if the garden storage shed was large enough.

A garden storage shed may be close to your house for ease of getting in and out of it. Or it may be toward the back of your property to reduce the tracking of mud and dirt in and out of the house. By having garden storage sheds away from the house you can have a secluded quiet place to think about nothing but gardening with no interruptions.

By keeping your gardening equipment separate from automotive tools and household tools, they won’t be used for anything they aren’t meant to be use for too. It can be too handy to grab a garden spade to empty the cat liter box or a gardening hoe to cut a piece of hose for a car. When a person is working on anything, they will grab the closest item to use for a tool sometimes even it isn’t designed for such use. So by having a separate place to store your gardening tools, equipment and supplies, garden storage sheds can serve a very useful purpose.

Purchasing Shed Building Plans Can Be A Great Alternative

Posted by Jerry.H | Posted in Storage Shed Plans | Posted on 01-11-2010

We all need extra space it seems. Extra storage is good whether it’s for holiday decorations, garden tools or maybe for swimming pool toys and ice chest. Many people use their garage, attic or basement for extra storage. Sometimes though, that’s just not enough room either. Or there are some houses that may only have a one car garage and it will be full of automobile stuff. Especially if the homeowner is a car enthusiast, there will be absolutely no room for anything that is not car related! So what can you do when you need extra storage?

There is always the option to buy a portable building and have it delivered to your home. You can get a variety of styles and sizes from a big box retailer. Manufacturers of portable buildings also have ‘stores’ where you can purchase these as well. You can always go to the website of the stores or manufacturer and see the sizes, style and floor plans offered. The downside to purchasing a storage shed from either of these places is that it may require that any fencing be taken down at least part of the way to have it placed where you desire.

Another option is you can rent an off-site storage place too.  These can be costly with a monthly payment to make as well and it won’t be convenient either. Anytime you need something, you must get in your car and drive to the lot. Some lots have certain hours that you can access your own stuff even! So unless the items you store there aren’t needed except holidays, this is not a practical set up.

So if tearing down your fence or having to drive somewhere to get something that is yours is not a preferable option, now what? Build your own storage shed! Yes, there are many storage shed building plans on-line that you can get step-by-step instructions. There are books at stores and libraries too. A search on the internet will find you so many options for storage shed plans you may have a hard time choosing which one you want!  If you are not handy with tools, look for storage shed plans for the novice. Select a reference that provides pictures or diagrams as well as text.

Once you have found the reference material that has the shed building plans you like, then you can plan where you want it built and start shopping for the materials needed. Any good shed building plans should include a supply list. That supply list should have the number of boards, the size of those boards as well what hardware maybe needed. Of course you will need nails, but there are other things you’ll need as well. The plans for sheds should include things like the hinges for the doors, a window or a vent.
